Noticing the high need for oil-absorbing paper made from foil paper, a by-product of the gold foil production process, a patent was acquired for oil-absorbing paper from the gold foil paper process. This was the first time this product had been created in Japan.

The first store opens at 1-1-1 Kohrinbo, Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture. Previously, Kanazawa foil crafts were distributed around the country based in Tokyo, but this store allowed for steady distribution.

An industry-first culinary gold foil without wrinkles is launched. It is different from gold powder, which was the leading culinary gold product at the time.

A new technique is developed to experience attaching foil

Gold foil is extremely thin, and attaching foil using bamboo chopsticks was difficult for amateurs in workshops. A special film is placed on top of the gold foil in order to make it easier. This new speciality gold foil was designed so that it can be applied with bare hands during workshops.

Success in developing tattoo sticker, adopted for use at World Cup

Tattoo stickers were successfully developed that could easily stick to skin without peeling, even with complex gold foil patterns. This successful development led to a boom at the World Cup in the same year, with supporters using gold foil flags of their countries to decorate their bodies.

In cooperation with Unitka and Shiozaki Kasei Kogyo, Hakuichi developed molded products using biodegradable resin with lacquering and foil decoration added. Up until this time, there were problems with heat resistance and durability, and turning biodegradable resin into products was difficult. Foil decoration and lacquering were added to the resin, lacquerwork techniques were applied, and product development was advanced. A patent for this processing technology was granted in July of 2004.

Hakuichi decorated the interiors of JR Kyushu's new 800 series U-007 trains with gold foil.

The interior of the train captures the essence of Japan and Kyushu. Hakuichi decorated the gable walls of each train car with gold foil and set up a frame so that each car could be decorated with different Kyushu crafts. Mainly featuring Kyushu crafts, each car is clearly colored with Kanazawa foil as a symbol of Japan.

Internationally-known composer Kenji Kawai was selected for the Master Award at eAT KANAZAWA '09, a digital art event held in Kanazawa city. From his request, Hakuichi produced an electric guitar that features traditional gold lacquering.

It was the first gold lacquer electric guitar in the world, and was completed with a lacquered body featuring gold lacquering. The initial unveiling of the guitar was at eAT KANAZAWA '10.

The Yamaha Ginza Building is managed by instrument maker Yamaha (headquarters: Hamamatsu City). Kanazawa gold foil, a traditional industry, was selected from the concept of fusion of tradition and innovation. There are 3 types of glass panels with variations in their shade, and the appearance of the panels change from day to night, shining on Ginza Street. Previous combination glass technologies for building materials were developed to withstand outside conditions and became a reality.

Created from a joint project with Kayama Inc. (headquarters: Fujisawa City, Tokyo), Hakuichi presented the Senbadzuru Goren Interior Panel by Kayama Matazo.

In 2004, Matazo regretfully passed away, leaving behind a large footprint on modern Japanese painting. Through the supervision of Kayama Inc., Hakuichi created the Senbadzuru Goren Interior Panel, expressing Matzo's representative work, Senbadzuru, with Kanazawa foil.

The Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation recognized the invention of technologies for merchandising Kanazawa foil for Hakuichi cosmetic products. Hakuichi was also evaluated on inventing a wide range of technologies, not only cosmetics with gold foil, but also gold foil for beauty salons, etc.

The structural symbol of Tokyo Sky Tree is the centrally-built central pillar. Hakuichi used Kanazawa foil architectural decorations primarily on the light wall that surrounds the outer part of the central pillar, and the beauty of Japanese traditional crafts can be seen by people from all over the world.

This award is given to people to recognize their contribution to improving workers skills or other employment support. Asano has been a member of the Ishikawa Prefectural Human Resources Development council since 1996 and has helped create human resources development plans.
